Terms & Conditions

General Terms and Conditions

Checking in Form

For each visit you will be asked to fill out, sign and date our checking in form. This can be done via our portal or in person when dropping your dog off. All clients must sign the form agreeing to us grooming their pet and accepting Top to Tail’s terms and conditions as outlined in this contract.

 Prices

All prices quoted are estimates and can be subject to change dependant on behaviour, coat type and grooming requirements.

 Aggressive or Dangerous Dogs

Top to Tail believes all dogs have the right to grooming for their health and wellbeing. We understand not all pets are used to being handled and groomed. We are happy to work with you to support your pet to build confidence with grooming.

As an owner you have a duty of care to tell us if your dog exhibits any difficult of aggressive behaviour before booking in an appointment at Top to Tail. This ensures the safety of both our staff and your dog.

Top to Tail accepts no liability for injuries caused by difficult or aggressive behaviour of your dog.

Top to Tail hold the right to refuse to groom any dogs they deem to put their staff or the pet itself at risk.

 Health and Medical Issues

Top to Tail accepts no liability when any health problem is uncovered or aggravated by any part of the grooming process. We will endeavour to inform you of anything we uncover.

If we deem it necessary for your dog’s welfare to stop the groom we will do so, only charging for the time spent with your dog.

In the best interest of your dog this contract will give Top to Tail permission to obtain immediate veterinary treatment for your dog should it be deemed necessary.

 Neglected or Matted Coats

Top to Tail will always put your pet’s welfare first, and although shaving the coat short might not be what you are wanting as an owner, if we believe it is the kindest option for your dog’s health and wellbeing, we will insist on taking this course of action.

It is against The Animal Welfare Act 2006 to cause pain or unnecessary suffering to an animal, de-matting a matted pet would be against this legislation and go against the ethos of Top to Tail.

Top to Tail accepts no liability for injuries caused due to the removal of neglected and/or matted coats.

Additional charges will be incurred for any dogs requiring knotted or matted coat removal to cover the costs incurred due to the additional time and expertise needed to safely remove the coat without injuring your pet, whilst also covering the additional maintenance needed for equipment used on matted coats.

To avoid needing your dog clipped short, you should be regularly brushing and maintaining their coat at home, alongside regular grooming of 4-8 weeks with a professional groomer.

 Accidents

There is always the possibility an accident could occur; grooming equipment is sharp and even though we use extreme caution and care if a dog is wiggling or moving around accidents can happen. In most cases these are easily treatable with first aid on site. However, should the accident require veterinary attention we will seek this immediately and endeavour to contact yourself. In these instances, we are fully insured and will always put your pets health and wellbeing first.

 Toileting Your Pet

Please make sure all dogs are fed at least 2 hours before their appointment alongside being exercised before their arrival. Giving ample opportunity to toilet before coming to their pet grooming appointment. This will help your pet to have a comfortable stay with us. Although, in most instances we do not charge for the time needed to clean up after pets have defecated or urinated at our premises. Repeated instances for non-medical reasons may result in additional charges as the clean-up process can impact on the running of the day.

 Fleas

Top to Tail is flea free salon:

-      should you arrive at your appointment and your pet has a flea infestation we will reschedule your appointment. This is classed as a ‘Late Cancellation’ and 50% of the groom will be charged. It is advisable to seek veterinary advice on the best course of action to treat the fleas.

-      Should we discover fleas on your pet during the groom, we will bathe your pet in a flea shampoo. Flea baths incur an additional charge due to the additional time needed to soak your pet in the shampoo (10-15 minutes) killing the fleas, and time needed to fumigate the salon to avoid fleas settling or spreading.

Ticks

We will remove ticks found during the groom, however, Top to Tail accepts no liability for irritation or infection caused by the tick and its removal.

Should we remove ticks, we will let you know how many any their approximate lodogion on collection.

Top to Tail does not empty anal glands and advise clients to seek vet advice on how best to treat anal gland issues.

 No Show and Late Cancellation

Top to Tail requires 24 hours’ notice to reschedule or cancel an appointment.

Any cancelations or changes to appointments with less than 24hrs notice will incur a charge at 50% of the grooming/quote price.

Teeth Cleaning Terms and Conditions

Initial Sessions

Initial sessions £40 (30 minutes), course appointments should be no longer than 7 days apart.

If the appointments are not within this timescale more sessions may be needed. Every dog is different therefore we cannot guarantee the amount of appointments to complete the course. On average 2-5 sessions are needed before moving onto maintenance appointments.

 Maintenance

Maintenance cleaning for £28 (15 minutes), must be carried out within 12 weeks of the previous appointment.

Maintenance cleaning can only take place once your pet has completed an Initial course within 12 weeks/ or on a groomers recommendation where they have suggested maintenance sessions. This is the case with Puppies.

 Teeth Cleaning Sessions

Top to Tail Staff will use the Cleany Teeth ultrasound toothbrush on my pet which has no vibration, no movement and no noise.

Tartar, plaque or stains will be removed from the teeth during the treatments course.

There may be some minor signs of blood on the gum line during and after teeth cleaning as the tartar and the plaque is broken down. The Ultrasound technology increases blood flow which helps to heal gums and remove bacteria.

Staff will stop the teeth cleaning session and advise to seek veterinary assistance if:

-       Any loose teeth are suspected.

-      If the pet objects and/or becomes stressed or aggressive.

-      Any obvious abnormalities are visible or suspected in the mouth such as: A foreign body embedded in the mouth, Oral warts, Oral Injuries or Tumours

If the session must stop for any health or behaviour reasons, Top to Tail will take full payment for the session.

 Declaration

I do not know of any medical reason why teeth cleaning cannot be carried out on my pet and I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to inform staff in the future should this be the case.

I am aware that the teeth cleaning service is not a substitute for a veterinary inspection and staff are not qualified to diagnose abnormalities or disease.

I consent to all the above and confirm that I am the legal owner/guardian of this pet.
